The Calm After the Winter Storm

The latest winter storm is now finished and we are now buried in snow.  We are used to getting snow, but 20+ inches overnight is a bit excessive for us.  I spent yesterday shoveling snow and then sled riding with the family, but today I left the house early and headed to my favorite spot, Ohiopyle State Park.  Even though I go there quite often, things are always a bit different, especially with multiple feet of snow.  My first spot was Cucumber Falls to try and get there before it got crowded.

Cucumber was mostly frozen over with the exception of a small stream.  Walking behind the falls was a bit of a challenge since it was nothing but ice, but worth it in the way the light came through the ice and lit up the rock behind it.

I next stopped by the main falls to park since it was one of the only lots that had been somewhat cleared.  From there I walked through the town and across to bridge.

My last stop was an overlook at the top of the mountain.  I was hiking around for about 4 hours and I saw a total of 6 people the whole time.  Nice and quiet.  I brought a number of lenses with me, but ended up only using my Fuji 18-135mm and a Rokinon 12mm prime.
