This weekend brought some light hiking, running the dog in the snow, watching a gymnastics competition at WVU and some other random photos.

Short Winter Hike
Tonight before dinner I went for a short walk around a local reservoir area. Normally, this is a good place to see local wildlife so I brought my new Nikon 180-600mm telephoto. I ended up carrying the heavy setup in vain, as there were very few creatures flitting about. It wasn’t a total loss though as I brought my Leica M10 and a 35mm lens for some landscapes. The light was perfect and it more than made up for the lack of animals.
First Snow Hiking of the Year
All week the weather predictions were calling for a large dumping of snow in my around my area and all week I was anxiously awaiting it. Then reality hit and in my town, we only got a light dusting. Thankfully, a short drive up the mountain to one of my favorite places to hike and camp, Laurel Hill State Park, produced some awesome winter hiking.
Favorite Images of 2023
While I’m a bit late on this, here are my favorite images of 2023. It was an interesting year for my photography hobby. I branched out into some other work, bought my dream camera in a Leica M10, switched from Fujifilm X series to Nikon Zf and was able to enjoy many genres of photography in portraits, sports, landscapes, photowalks and family shots. I’m hoping to continue the trend in 2024.
