While hiking around a local park, I brought along the Fuji X-T5 and a variety of lenses. The most used was the Fuji 150-600mm since I stumbled across some hawk’s looking for dinner. Above is a Red Tailed Hawk and it was moving from tree to tree scoping the area out. Light was low and at full zoom, my lens max aperture was f/8. So I tried to drop the shutter speed to 1/60 of a second while the hawk was stationary. At a full 600mm zoom, 1/60 of a second actually worked well enough. The IBIS and OIS of the lens worked together beautifully to let me get the shot I wanted too without cranking the ISO.

Ultrawide Shooting with a Canon 10-18mm EF-S Lens
Today I was fortunate enough to both have an un-seasonally warm day and have a new lens delivered. A short hike was in order to put it through its paces. The lens is a Canon 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM in EF-S mount. This can mount to my Fujifilm bodies by way of a Fringer EF-FX adapter that provides autofocus, EXIF data and aperture control. It works without any issues just as a native lens would.

Frozen hike at Ohiopyle
Now that Christmas is past and the wind chill is above -15 degrees, I bundled up, packed a bag, slid on some micro-spikes and into the cold I went.
