We have had quite a busy few weeks which has provided many opportunities for photography. I managed to do some prom portraits, get some shots of our weekend getaway to Deep Creek, a visit to a animal park and our daughter’s first trip to Idlewild Amusement park. It’s been wonderful.

Winter getaway to Florida
My family and I just returned from a quick trip to Florida to visit her Grandparent’s at their winter retreat. The day that we left, a few inches of snow were forecast to drop on our house, but we had already landed in Florida by the time that started. We were greeted with breezy 70 degree air and bright sunshine. As always, I try to get some non-family pictures and here are my favorites.
A sunny day winter hike
We are finally getting a fair amount of snow to go along with the bitterly cold weather. In the past few days, about 4-6 inches of snow has dropped. Fresh snow combined with a beautiful sunny day is just what I hoped for, so I packed a camera bag set off to one of my favorite places to hike, Ohiopyle State Park. My first stop of the day was Cucumber Falls followed by a quick walk around the natural waterslides and then the main park area.
A few from yesterday
It has been a while since I’ve gotten out to just hike around with a camera and I felt the need to get lost in the woods for a bit. I packed a light camera bag and planned on stopping at Laurel Mountain State Park and Linn Run State park after work. Another reason to get out was to test my newly acquired Olympus 14-150mm superzoom. I have been contemplating this lens for awhile to use primarily on outdoor hikes and camping when a single lens solution would be preferred to carrying multiple primes or zooms. 5 of the 6 shots are with this lens.
