While hiking around a local park, I brought along the Fuji X-T5 and a variety of lenses. The most used was the Fuji 150-600mm since I stumbled across some hawk’s looking for dinner. Above is a Red Tailed Hawk and it was moving from tree to tree scoping the area out. Light was low and at full zoom, my lens max aperture was f/8. So I tried to drop the shutter speed to 1/60 of a second while the hawk was stationary. At a full 600mm zoom, 1/60 of a second actually worked well enough. The IBIS and OIS of the lens worked together beautifully to let me get the shot I wanted too without cranking the ISO.

Kayaking at Bridgeport Dam
Camera gear also came along for the ride. The Fuji X-T5 and Fuji 150-600mm f/5.6-8 were the goto combo for today. Lots of birding to be done. Shooting a lens with 915mm equivalent field of view (in 35mm terms) when sitting in a bobbing kayak is not easy. The OIS system got a workout today. Regardless, I’m quite pleased with the images I was able to capture.
Bald Eagle Baby has Hatched
Tonight I went back to the Bald Eagle nest I stumbled onto a few weeks ago and found that there is a baby eagle in there.
Family Florida Trip
Just some photos from a recent trip to Florida with the family. I packed a kit into my MindShift Backlight 18l backpack that consisted of a Fuji X-T5, Fuji X-E3, Fuji 150-600mm, Fuji 33mm f/1.4, Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 and an adapter Canon 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6.
